As a part of your new Fiber to the Home installation we provide an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to power the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) outside your home or business. The UPS has three indicator lights located on its upper right side to display its status, as well as two black cords coming out of the bottom right hand portion. One is an AC power cord which is typically a black flat cable that is plugged into an electrical outlet within a few feet of the UPS itself. The second round black cable runs to the ONT and supplies power and status indicators.
Below are some examples of different indicator light combinations you may see on your UPS.
Status – Normal
Lights
AC – Green
Output – Green
Battery – Not Lit
Services
Television – Enabled
Internet – Enabled
Phone – Enabled
The UPS has live AC power to the unit and is outputting correctly to the ONT outside.
Status – AC Unplugged
Lights
AC – Yellow
Output – Green
Battery – Not Lit
Services
Television – Disabled
Internet – Disabled
Phone – Enabled
In this state the UPS has lost AC power and is now running off battery power. Television and Internet services have been disabled to extend the length of time that the battery will power the ONT and keep your Phone services up and running.
Troubleshooting
Typically if you find your UPS in this state the AC power cord has become unplugged from the wall outlet. To restore services, simply plug the UPS back into the wall outlet. If the AC power cord is plugged into an outlet and the status lights do not change you may have lost power to the outlet. You can check for a tripped GFCI breaker, a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse in your electrical panel. You can also run an extension cord from a known working outlet to power the UPS and restore your services. It is recommended that you then call an electrician to fix the issue with your outlet.

Troubleshooting
If the UPS was recently unplugged for a long period of time, the Red battery light will be lit until the battery has been sufficiently charged. If this is the case just simply wait 4-12 hours and see if the indicator light changes to off.
If after waiting and the indicator light is still red, the UPS needs servicing by a technician.
